What a fun Lunar New Year Festival this past weekend.

What a fun Lunar New Year Festival this past weekend. Thank you again to the Peaboy Essex Museum for having me. Our Jianzi Workshop was so much fun. We had over 30 kids and families participate, unplugging from media to kicking, leaping, and stalling their jianzi. An easy toy to make with so many health benefits. It was really nice to connect with so many diverse people and to bring back fun memories of hacky sack, mostly a fun past time lost to the days of our high school years.

We ended our adventure with “Martin the Pretty Dragon” as dubbed by the PEM Staff, as I lead the dragon through the atrium for all to enjoy. 🙂 All the scales of the dragon were created by the many children who visited PEM. The children played little drums and joined the parade as well.

And thank you Mimi and Auntie Michelle for enjoying the festivities and helping Eve and Alice throughout the day.

Lunar New Year Festival this Saturday

Thank you Peabody Essex Museum for inviting me to celebrate another Lunar New Year Festival this Saturday. I will be doing two Jianzi (Chinese Hacky Sack) workshops, 11:30am-1pm and 1:30pm-3pm. During the workshops we will be making our own jianzi and then we’ll use them to learn how to play and learn the basic techniques of Chinese Hacky Sack. Also at 3:30pm, I get the honor of leading the ending Dragon Parade Costume that will be created throughout the day. If you’re in the area or in the mood for a little journey, come on by and enjoy a little Chinese culture. There will be lots to do. 🙂 Please visit http://pem.org/ for more info.
